A 29-year-old pregnant, suburban Chicago mom and her three sons all died days apart after their SUV was struck in Beecher, Illinois, on Monday, July 24. The mom had been transporting her three sons to a nearby church for a Bible camp when the driver of a pickup ran a stop sign, t-boning her SUV.

Will County police dispatch first began receiving reports of an accident at the intersection between Yates Avenue and Corning Avenue right around 8:38 a.m. that fateful morning. Upon arriving at the scene of the crash, they found the young mom and her 1-year-old son, both deceased. Her two other sons, a 4- and 6-year-old, were both transported to area hospitals in critical condition.

The 4-year-old died less than 36 hours later at Comer Children’s Hospital. The 6-year-old died early Thursday morning at the same Chicago hospital as his brother. Both had been placed on life support upon arriving at the hospital. The elder of two brothers had also been placed into a medically-induced coma during the final days before his death.

According to witness statements taken at the scene of the crash, a pick-up truck driver was operating his vehicle in the eastbound direction along Corning Road as he approached its intersection with Yates Avenue. The young mother was traveling down Yates at the time. There was no stop sign and she had the right of way.

The truck’s 25-year-old driver is alleged to have run the stop sign at the intersection instead of yielding to the young mother’s right of way. He suffered a significant laceration to one of his arms in the accident. He was transported from the accident scene to Christ Hospital where he underwent reconstructive surgery to repair it.

The Will County Sheriff’s Department has not yet decided whether or not they’ll press charges against the man for his role in causing the multi-fatality crash. They note that their investigation into the accident is still ongoing.

If you have lost a loved one in a t-bone accident at an intersection, then you may be able to work with a Chicago wrongful death attorney to recover medical and funeral costs as well as other expenses in your case.
