A three-car accident claimed the life of a 77-year-old man and left a 74-year-old woman critically injured in Grayslake, Illinois, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. The fatal car crash, which occured on Peterson Road, right off of Behm Lake, occurred around 2:48 p.m. that afternoon.

The driver of a minivan, one of the critically injured victims in the accident, was traveling in the eastbound lane along Peterson Road and attempting to make a left turn onto Behm Lane when the passenger’s side of her vehicle was struck by a GMC pickup, which was traveling west at the time. Upon impact, the front portion of another vehicle, a Honda Civic, driven by an 85-year-old Grayslake resident, was struck as well.

When Grayslake Fire Department emergency responders arrived at the scene, the elderly gentleman was found to be in critical condition. Although he was transported to Condell Medical Center, he soon succumbed to his injuries.

As for driver of the minivan, she too was transported to the same hospital in critical condition on life support. The driver of the GMC Sierra pickup truck involved in the car crash was also transported to the hospital with complaints of minor injuries. It’s unclear if the driver of the Honda Civic suffered any injuries as a result of her involvement in the accident.

Any potential charges in the case are pending the results of the investigation being spearheaded by the Lake County Sheriff.
